Save your aluminum drink cans and bring to Zion Lutheran Church the first Sunday of every month. This helps keep useful aluminum out of our landfills and helps to fund our families in need.
Be encouraged to take time to stop by and check the Blessing Box. The upper portion is for food stuffs, and the lower space is for firewood in the cold months and produce and plants in the warm months.
Over 44% of students in Shenandoah County qualify for free or reduced lunch. Luke's Backpack makes sure they have food for the weekend. They continue to need donations of food, grocery bags, and monetary contributions. Needed food items include 100% juice boxes (apple, orange, V-8), oatmeal, cereal in individual boxes, soup, canned vegetables, granola bars/Pop-Tarts, and microwave popcorn. Please leave any donations in the areas provided at each church. Thanks for your support!
Spring Forward is a free after-school program for elementary grades that offers healthy snacks, enrichment, and homework assistance. Classes are in session and are held at Zion on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm except when schools are closed. Registration is required. If a student is not registered in advance, a parent / guardian must accompany the student to the first regular session for late registration. For more information, contact Jane Perry.
From March 1 - May 31, St. Jacob participates in the Shenandoah County Roadside Trash collection for non-profit organizations. If you would like to support their efforts and need an orange bag, let Pastor Katie know. It must be roadside trash.
This is an international mission to open a preschool and kindergarten in Ndirma Litembo, Tanzania. May it plant the seed for the love of learning and enhance economic opportunity through improved educational access for all.
The women of St. Jacob’s periodically collect items and/or financial donations for items that are donated to Lutheran World Relief for use all over the world. Watch this space for current collection drives.
Please consider supporting our efforts to participate in 2024. This is a program to honor those who served our country by laying wreaths on veterans' graves. Their motto: Remember, Honor, Teach.
This scholarship recognizes service and commitment to Jesus Christ and to Zion Lutheran Church. It seeks to financially award those qualified students who are seeking to attend an accredited institution or trade school.
Cub Scout Pack 117 - Mount Jackson is a unit of the Shenandoah Area Council, Shenrapawa District. Pack 117 serves the southern Shenandoah County, VA area, including Mount Jackson, New Market, and Basye. Den meetings are held twice per month on Tuesday nights, with Pack meetings occurring once per month. Cub Scout Pack 117 is committed to providing a quality, year-round program of Cub Scouting activities. We place a special emphasis on character development, spiritual growth, citizenship, and family.
